Issuer APR Bands for Fair Credit: August Watchlist

By Alex Rivera

According to the latest CFPB‑reported survey of major U.S. credit‑card issuers, the typical APR for fair‑credit products (FICO scores 580‑669) now falls between 22.9% and 26.5%, a modest improvement from the 24.0%‑27.8% band seen earlier this year.

While some issuers have introduced promotional 0% intro periods for balance transfers, the standard purchase APR remains tied to the prime rate plus a margin that varies by issuer risk models; consumers should compare both the introductory and ongoing rates before applying.
